Nicholson Residence

This house sits on a tranquil and unusual multi-acre lot in the City of Atlanta.  Because part of the lot lies in a flood plane, building code required the new construction to be limited to the footprint of the previous flood-damaged house shell.  The ground level is a concrete structure surrounded by removable insect screen, with the rest of the house safely floating above.  The social spaces exist at the middle level with views of a small forest, while the bedroom sits at the top, looking out over the living room and the surrounding views of the city.
